Britain may revive Blankety Blanks with a pilot to be filmed later this year.
Blankety Blank (as it was called in the UK) ran at various times from 1979 to 2002, hosted first by Terry Wogan, then by Les Dawson and later Paul O’Grady as Lily Savage.
The Sun reports The Chase‘s Bradley Walsh is tipped to be host but Paddy McGuinness and Rylan Clark have also been mentioned.
An unnamed source says, “A pilot is being filmed later this year and if it’s a success, it’ll go on to become a new series. Everyone is confident it’ll be a hit and it’s a perfect fit for Saturday night. It’s likely to nab a primetime spot and cash will be pumped into the series if it does go ahead.”
In Australia the show was famously hosted by Graham Kennedy for just 2 seasons, and later Daryl Somers and briefly, Shane Bourne.
TV Tonight posed a revival question for Australia last year, with 61 comments weighing in…

This from a country that has been retrospectively expunging any reference to the word Corona, even from solar physics, in case somebody is offended? The game was based around comedians ad libbing within a framework of stereotypes, that were common knowledge.
We dont have the likes of Graham Kennedy today. He made the show work. His quick wit made the show. A remake just wont be the same.
Lawrence Mooney and his cast of characters from his radio show would be perfect for an Aussie remake.
I think they would rather go with a comedian
While very funny and a great way to see your favourite celebs, our version was pretty smutty. I hope they get the balance right and not go over the top so that it only gets shown at 11.30pm.
Alec Baldwin is the perfect host of the US version, Match Game.
10 should do this when HYBPA isn’t airing
I reckon Working Dog could do pretty good things with the format too
Yes, if they were going to do it here, must be the HYBPA crew with Gleisner hosting.
Please, let’s not just clone the current.
I more meant use that crew as a base and have rotating panel.
I think a comedian should host. Lee Mack?
Changed my mind. Lee Mack would be good in the “Ugly Dave Grey” role.
Oh yes, that would make the show.
Loved the Aussie version when Graham Kennedy compered it.
I loved Blankety Blanks when I was a kid and have often wondered why it hasn’t been revived. As it was great fun and light-hearted TV.
From memory, there was a very short lived revival some years ago with Shane Bourne
In the story.
Do some people not read beyond the headline?
