A peek inside new Nine operations centre

Nine is ready to broadcast its news & current affairs from its new North Sydney home.

Nine News Sydney Director Simon Hobbs has posted video of the new Nine operations centre in North Sydney, which looks very impressive.

60 Minutes has already moved across with other news shows soon to conclude broadcasting at its historic Willoughby site, which is expected soon.

  1. Hello David,
does the North Sydney site have a ‘traditional’ full-sized TV studio as such, or is it just a series of news desks and mini-studios and the like for news/current affairs programmes such as Today, Today Extra, ACA , sports panel shows etc
Apologies if the layout of the new studios was covered elsewhere……

  2. I thought NPC Media (Seven-Nine joint venture) was the broadcast centre for both networks now, located in Frenchs Forest, Sydney? “Master Control” implies this.

Unless it’s their ‘back-up’ site if Frenchs Forest goes down?

Example, Master Control at Seven used to be that massive curved room behind the glass foyer at Docklands, with a back-up room underneath Martin Place (which Beretts toured on Sunrise one day). Before Docklands operations then shut-down. I’d assume there’s still a redundancy there, good to have another city just in case, I’d assume same with Nine at GTV Melbourne.

    1. NPCM is only a transmission master control.
Whereas TCN and GTV master controls are contribution/production master controls. Same with Martin Place and Docklands master controls for Seven.

          1. For a bit more context, on social media Deborah Knight indicated she would be the first person to broadcast from there for the Saturday A Current Affair tomorrow. Jayne Azzopardi indicated last week Today would move in a few weeks.
