AFL storms Thursday for Seven

Ratings: Second biggest Thursday AFL game in history gives Seven a whopping 38.5% share.

AFL Finals are here and have delivered bumper numbers for Seven.

918,000 viewers tuned in last night, nearly 500,000 of them in Melbourne alone -making it the second-biggest Thursday night game in history.

AFL helped delivered a whopping 38.5% share to Seven and put Seven back in the hunt for the week overall.

Everywhere else things were very quiet…

The Chase was the top entertainment show at 526,000 / 306,000.

7:30 (466,000) eclipsed RBT (437,000), the finale for The Heights (230,000), The Masked Singer USA (225,000) and Queen Victoria’s Slum (179,000).

With a low lead-in even Gogglebox was down at just 475,000 then Paramedics (301,000) and Escape from the City (236,000).

Seven network easily won Thursday with 38.5% then Nine 23.6%, 10 15.9%, ABC 13.6% and SBS 8.4%.

Seven News was #1 at (931,000 / 787,000). Home and Away was 383,000, staggered across the network. Movie: This Means War was 116,000 in 3 cities.

Nine News (925,000 / 925,000) was best for Nine. A Current Affair (624,000) and Hot Seat (444,000 / 271,000) followed. Botched was 244,000.

The Project drew 409,000 / 253,000 for 10. 10 News First was low at 278,000 / 159,000. Drunk History managed 182,000.

ABC News pulled 686,000. Sammy J (325,000), The Drum (186,000) and Secrets of the Museum (169,000) also ranked for ABC.

On SBS it was Secrets of the Tower of London (165,000), SBS World News (158,000) and a late edition (103,000). Mastermind was just 55,000.

Studio 10: 38,000 / 37,000 /

  1. The sustained low ratings for Studio 10 continue. They did a good job in ridding themselves of 25-30% of their viewers with the unpopular recent format change.

    Lets hope 10 take on viewer feedback. If not, The Talk and more US shows will be promptly back on 10 in the mornings.

    1. Really feel sorry for Sarah Harris. She is a great talent and is very loyal to 10 considering how Studio 10 has been destroyed over recent years. It is currently a 4 hour show full of very ordinary content. Sarah is doing the heavy lifting currently which must very hard going for 4 hours every morning.

  2. Bring on the AFL finals! Nice to see QLD/NSW numbers higher too. I suspect tonight with a QLD team playing, we may crack triple digits for them? Who knows…
