Airdate: Cox Plate 2020

It's a big day of Sport on Seven this Saturday.

On Saturday in an historic first Seven screens both the AFL Grand Final and the Cox Plate from Moonee Valley on the same day (no crowds for the horse racing).

From The Masters Apprentices to Lime Cordiale, sports fans and music lovers are in for a special treat on Saturday as the best Aussie artists and bands across the generations take centre stage on our nation’s biggest sporting day ever.

On a historic day of Australian sport when the iconic Cox Plate and AFL Grand Final will share the same spotlight for the first time ever, Seven will mark the momentous occasion by featuring the greatest Aussie songs of all time, including a special live performance by Aussie rock legend Daryl Braithwaite of his smash hit Horses at Moonee Valley.

From the time The AFL Grand Final Brunch hosted by Luke Darcy and Jacqui Felgate kick-starts the day, right up until the post-match Grand Final celebrations finally wind up at about 11.00pm AEDT, Seven’s coverage will feature nothing but rolled gold Aussie classics that will have people of all ages singing and bopping along.

Braithwaite is thrilled to back at Moonee Valley for the 100th edition of the Cox Plate:

“It will obviously be a different day for the band and I, but it will be great to perform again at the Cox Plate. And Seven playing all Aussie music all day on Saturday will be stupendous. I’m sure it will bring back a lot of memories for people and it will go well with the racing and the footy – it’s just a shame Collingwood won’t be in the Grand Final.”

Channel Seven AFL commentator and resident music lover Matthew Richardson said: “Music has been a big part of our broadcast this year and nothing brings Aussies together more than sport and music. On Saturday, it won’t be about whether it’s Queensland music, Victorian music or Sydney music, it will just be Aussie music for all Aussies – and I can’t wait.”

11:30am – 4:30pm AEDT Saturday on Seven.
