Friday Flashback: The Singing Bee

Back in 2007 - 2010 Nine screened a music game show on Nine, with hosts Joey Fatone and then Tim Campbell.

Back in 2007, former N’Sync singer Joey Fatone actually hosted music game show The Singing Bee at GTV9 studios in Richmond (question: how did MEAA ever approve that?).

After a first season Tim Campbell stepped in with guests including Frankie J. Holden, Shura Taft, Michala Banas, Marty Fields, Dieter Brummer, Richard Reid, Nick Giannopoulos, Jono Coleman and yes, Anthony Callea.

The resident band featured Rob Mills, Lucy Holmes and former CDB singer Andrew De Silva.

It aired over about 18 months with Campbell in the role.

  1. I remember this show. The contestants had to guess and continue the correct lyrics for the song. I recall Dylan Lewis of Recovery, The 10:30 Slot, and Celebrity Big Brother fame, asking to give the money on offer to charity anyway despite the lyrics and effort, and he seemingly put in a reasonable effort. They only gave the money to charity if the lyrics were correct despite the funds on offer. It may have likely been the celebrity edition of the show.
