Networks struggle with early evening shows on Monday

Ratings: Only Nine & ABC had respectable numbers at 7:30 last night. Nine wins Monday.

There were really only two broadcasters in the game last night at 7:30, Nine and the ABC as networks tread water with filler content.

The Block won with 939,000 viewers then Australian Story (752,000) and 7:30 (636,000).

That left Seven struggling with America’s Got Talent (277,000 / 188,000), 10’s #Trump: How Social Media Changed the Presidency (273,000) and How the Victorians Built Britain (214,000) on SBS.

Later 10 managed to gain back some ground thanks to Have You Been Paying Attention? (599,000) just ahead of Four Corners (578,000) then Media Watch (481,000) and RBT (396,000).

Nine network won Monday with 30.0% then Seven 24.1%, 10 19.0%, ABC 18.9% and SBS 7.9%.

Nine News was best for Nine at 990,000 / 959,000. A Current Affair won its slot at 759,000 and Hot Seat was 446,000 / 278,000. Nine News late was 202,000 and Footy Classified pulled 146,000 in 3 cities.

Seven News was #1 at 1.1m / 1.08m for Seven. The Chase was 575,000 / 350,000 then Home & Away (564,000).

The Project drew 508,000 / 322,000 for 10. 10 News First (343,000 / 255,000) and Drunk History (277,000) followed.

ABC News pulled 695,000. Q&A (264,000) and The Drum (187,000) also ranked for ABC.

On SBS it was SBS World News (183,000), 24 Hours in Emergency (149,000), 8 Out of 10 Cats Does Countdown (80,000) and Mastermind (58,000)

NCIS led multichannels at 194,000.

  1. I’m not sure if Ten made the right call by guttering their news as there isn’t much content people are prepared to watch on commercial tv other than news
