Renewed: Ted Lasso

Jason Sudeikis comedy gets an early 3rd season renewal from Apple, before the 2nd has even started filming.

Apple TV+ series Ted Lasso has been given a third season renewal, ahead of the second season even beginning production.

Season 2 was announced less than a week after the series premiered.

The series stars Jason Sudeikis as Ted Lasso, a small-time college football coach from Kansas hired to coach a professional soccer team in England, despite having no experience coaching soccer.

It also stars Hannah Waddingham, Brendan Hunt, Jeremy Swift, Juno Temple, Brett Goldstein, Phil Dunster and Nick Mohammed.

The Ted Lasso character originally appeared in a video in 2013 to help promote  NBC Sports broadcasting English Premier League. It proved so successful that NBC brought the character back as an analyst.

Production is due to begin in early January in London.

No, we don’t all have to get along. No, we don’t have to fake being positive and happy. But investing in others, and deriving joy from that, is so refreshing to see and makes me sit up and think – be more Ted. I hope the magic from Season 1 is…
