Canadian medical drama Transplant screens at SBS on Demand from tonight.
The series stars Hamza Haq as a former refugee, working in a Toronto hospital. It also features John Hannah, Ayisha Issa, Laurence Leboeuf, and Jim Watson.
All thirteen episodes are available to stream. This premiered internationally in February.
A struggling Syrian refugee saves multiple people after a truck plows into a busy street café, using his skills and warzone instincts from his former life as a doctor.
The series follows Dr. Bashir Hamed (Hamza Haq), a man with an elusive past, as he joins a team of doctors, challenged to make a place for himself in a new hospital and country. ‘Bash’ makes the difficult decision to flee his country and build a new life in Canada with his younger sister Amira (Sirena Gulamgaus).
He works to navigate a new environment after earning a coveted residency in the Emergency Department of one of the best hospitals in Toronto; York Memorial.

Hey David, is there any word on whether the sublime ‘Why Women Kill’ will get a run on SBS after debuting on demand a while ago…? I want Mum to watch it.
