Strong finish for Halifax: Retribution

Ratings: Nine drama enjoyed consistent audiences across its run, together with The Block giving network an easy win.

If you weren’t drawn to Budget night, TV offered slim pickings last night, with The Block & Halifax: Retribution enjoying strong audiences as a result. Nine led Tuesday from 7pm.

The Block led in entertainment and topped the demos at 894,000 viewers.

That easily bettered Budget 2020: Treasurer’s Speech (518,000), Prince William: A Planet For Us All (311,000), America’s Got Talent (283,000) and Every Family Has a Secret (277,000).

Later the Halifax: Retribution finale finished at 577,000 well ahead of Budget 2020: ABC News Special (388,000), Budget 2020: Reaction & Analysis (254,000), and Ambulance Australia (211,000).

Nine network won Tuesday with 32.2% then Seven 24.5%, ABC 17.3%, 10 17.0% and SBS 9.0%.

Nine News (899,000 / 888,000) was best for Nine while A Current Affair (803,000) won its slot. Hot Seat (469,000 / 291,000) and Bluff City Law (207,000) followed.

Seven News was #1 at 1.00m / 995,000 for Seven. Home & Away drew 579,000 then The Chase (525,000 / 302,000) and The Latest  (168,000).

ABC News was 714,000. The Drum (194,000) and Louis Theroux: The Night In Question (145,000) also ranked for ABC.

The Project (470,000 / 294,000) was best for 10. 10 News First (332,000 / 230,000).

On SBS it was Insight (184,000), SBS World News (165,000), Dateline (150,000), The Feed (83,000) and Mastermind (73,000).

NCIS topped multichannels at 209,000.

  1. I really enjoyed watching Halifax: Retribution and I really hope there is another season. And I’m really glad 9Gem is going to show the original series of Halifax because I never saw it.

    1. 20 of the original 21 Halifax f.p. tele-movies are available on 9Now (have been for a while now) so you don’t necessarily need to wait until next Tuesday:

      For reasons unbeknown to me Nine removed or pulled the 4th episode of season 1 … “My Lovely Girl” a week or two after they were made available … curious to know why though.

  2. It looks like the Final finished higher than the debut. Which is a great result for the live viewing and I assume more caught up on time shifting after the debut and perhaps of mouth of word and reviews encouraged further viewing.
    Here’s hoping networks still invest in Aussie drama!
