The Sound returns to ABC on Sunday with Ms. Kylie Minogue, Midnight Oil, Jessica Mauboy and Richard Clapton.

Now in the prized 6pm Sunday slot. Say no more.

Including Kylie Minogue, Midnight Oil with Jessica Mauboy & Tasman Keith + Alice Skye, The Rubens, Ruel, Vera Blue, Mia Wray. That’s not all! Our ‘From The Vault’ segment will be hosted by ARIA Hall of Fame inductee Richard Clapton -Official. Finally, we celebrate a legendary band some consider ‘the Aussie Rolling Stones’ – The Masters Apprentices. Thirsty Merc, Davey Lane (You Am I), Alex Lahey and Gretta Ray join forces in our ‘Tribute’ section.

    1. For nostalgia sake, yes, the Countdown timeslot is a good fit. But for a show of the caliber to have such prominent guests, it should have one of the most prominent primetime timeslots, including heavy promotion. It’s a different era and demographic, although just as prominent. And include repeat showings at opportune timeslots, such as before or after Rage.

  1. It’s not Countdown, that’s right. But I don’t think it seeks to be. Yes, one-hour of performance-based music content on the ABC (in a similar slot to the aforementioned and much-loved Countdown, too, I believe) but The Sound is also very contemporary, stylish and well produced. A lot of creativity in the locations they use for the different recorded ‘as live’ performance segments. I reckon they’re on to a winning program – and great for the Aussie music industry.
