ABC doco looks back on 1868's Aboriginal cricketers who played in the UK.

In this NADOC Week ABC screens Walkabout Wickets, a look back on 1868’s Aboriginal cricketers who played in the UK.

The Australian summer has long been synonymous with the sport of cricket. We grew up knowing the legendary stories of Bradman, Border, Waugh and Warne – but next to those are some other stories not so well known.

In 1868, a group of all Aboriginal cricketers made a three-month journey from Australia to the UK by sea. They arrived in the UK to play 47 matches at some of the most famous grounds in world cricket.

Walkabout Wickets follows the 2018 National Indigenous cricket teams on their tour of the UK, delving into the deep connection these young Australians have to the game, and the group of Aboriginal cricketers who blazed a trail 150 years earlier.
