Block auction biggest entertainment audience of 2020

Ratings: The Block overtakes MasterChef finale for 2020 bragging rights, with a huge Sunday win for Nine.

The Block grand final drew 1.43m viewers but it rose to 1.79m viewers for the moment Jimmy & Tam were announced as winners -overtaking the MasterChef finale to become the highest non sport audience of the year.

However they are also down on The Oslo auction in 2019 at 1.54m / 1.92m (winner ann.).

It easily gazumped Beat the Chasers (583,000), Restoration Australia (485,000) and The Graham Norton Show (269,000).

In preliminary figures 60 Minutes drew 841,000 then Roadkill (375,000), Crime Investigation Australia (244,000), FBI: Most Wanted (214,000) and Pompeii: After The Eruption (203,000).

Nine network easily won Sunday at 41.4% then Seven 23.2%, ABC 14.5%, 10 13.3% and SBS 7.6%.

Nine News won its slot at 979,000 with a late edition on 436,000 in preliminary figures.

Seven News was best for Seven at 925,000. Killer Tapes was 165,000.

ABC News pulled 608,000 for ABC. There were low numbers for Total Control (85,000) and The Sound (82,000).

On a tough night The Sunday Project managed just 325,000 / 270,000 for 10 then 10 News First (257,000 / 207,000) and Blood & Treasure (117,000).

On SBS it was SBS World News (174,000) and Lost Treasures Of The Maya (151,000).

Dan Andrews easing of restrictions ensured Weekend Breakfast pipped Bluey on multichannels at 199,000.

  1. Well done Block. Amazing its been going for so many years and can still rate that well. A lot of shows by this stage have shed half their audience, if not axed all.together.

  2. ‘The Sound’ is diminishing to a distant echo-as far as the Maya go, can’t see all that much dig archeology going on there as it would destroy one of the few tropical rain forests left-also a bit worrying that as the you beaut technology get cheaper and more available, the looters will get a boost as well.
