Claudia Karvan, Meyne Wyatt join Screen Music Awards.

Claudia Karvan and Meyne Wyatt have joined as presenters of the Screen Music Awards next month.

They join host Justine Clarke for the virtual event to be streamed via YouTube Premiere on Tuesday 1st December.

The APRA Board of Directors has also announced composer Nerida Tyson-Chew will receive the 2020 Distinguished Services to the Australian Screen Award.

Her portfolio spans feature films, television dramas, children’s productions as well as numerous documentaries and wildlife films, including H is for Happiness,  The Deep, Rescue: Special Ops, Batman: The Animated Series and National Geographic’ Taboo.

Tyson-Chew is part of screen music history as one of the first female composers scoring on productions in the U.S. Next year will be her 35th year as an APRA member and screen composer.

Nerida Tyson-Chew said, “I’m thrilled to bits to receive this prestigious honour from the Board of Directors of APRA AMCOS. Film composers by nature are at our best when no-one ‘hears’ our work but ‘feels’ it. Our bespoke music scores do more than set an atmosphere, establish a sense of a time, and create a sense of place. I’m having an exciting career as a sonic storyteller, creating bespoke film music and working with gifted, skilled craftspeople. For APRA AMCOS to recognise my body of work with this wonderful honour is a momentous experience for me and is also recognition for the talented musicians and masterful engineers that have joined my music team along the way.”

Logie and AFI award winning actor, producer and series creator Claudia Karvan has achieved outstanding success and critical acclaim through her work in film and television including productions The Secret Life of Us, Love My Way, The Time of Our Lives, Newton’s Law, Jack Irish and Puberty Blues. Claudia also co-created, produced and starred in the Foxtel series Spirited, and this year appeared in Halifax: Retribution.

Artist, actor and writer Meyne Wyatt has starred in television productions Redfern Now, Les Norton, Black Comedy and Mystery Road and feature films The Sapphires and Strangerland. He has also appeared in theatre productions around the country including his own acclaimed debut play City of Gold (2019). Most recently, Meyne entered the Archibald Prize and became the first Indigenous Artist to win the Packing Room Prize with his with his self-portrait, titled ‘Meyne.’
