Jimmy Fallon extends late night contract

Jimmy Fallon has extended his Tonight show deal in the US, but remains off screen in Australia.

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon may not be screening in Australia but its star has just inked a new contract with NBC.

However the terms have not been disclosed in media reports.

Fallon’s current contract runs through to the end of 2021 after the network extended the deal in August 2015 for an additional three and a half years.

According to Deadline The Tonight Show is no longer the ratings leader that it used to be. Recently, Fallon’s show has been beaten in the overnights by The Late Show with Stephen Colbert and Jimmy Kimmel Live!

The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon previously screened on Foxtel through E! but ended a year ago.

    1. He didn’t win constantly. Fallon kept the ratings lead he inherited from his untalented predecessor.
It wasn’t until Trump that even Colbert was able to overtake Fallon. Peoples appetites changed.

There’s been some really good articles written about his fall from ratings glory and Colbert/Kimmel’s rise.

      1. I wouldn’t call Jay Leno untalented. He consistently won the ratings for years and a year before he retired he was averaging 5mil per night. On his last show he got 14.6mil and Fallon’s first show was 11mil. Currently Fallon is on 2mil trailing behind Kimmel and the Late Show (3.5mil).

  1. I’m don’t prefer Fallon (give me Kimmel or Colbert when he doesn’t get overall political (I know that his stick, but when he strays he can get real fun)).

However, it is a shame that those who would enjoy him on TV don’t have the option to watch his full show (although there is the YouTube channel with highlights)
