UK drama Manhunt starring Martin Clunes has been renewed for a second season.
Clunes stars as the former London Metropolitan Police detective, DCI Colin Sutton, in the series produced by his own Buffalo Pictures.
Manhunt II: The Night Stalker will be a four part dramatisation of the police pursuit of a notorious serial rapist, whose 17 year reign of terror left thousands of elderly people in south east London living in fear.
The first series attracted an average audience of nine million Brits, and was the highest rated new drama in the UK during 2019.
ITV drama boss Polly Hill said, “I’m delighted that Martin Clunes will play DCI Colin Sutton once again, taking on a case that had gone unsolved for almost two decades. The team behind the first Manhunt – Ed Whitmore, Marc Evans, along with Buffalo and Philippa Braithwaite – will make sure this is another compelling and respectful dramatisation of a truly shocking crime that affected so many families.”
Based on diaries of Colin Sutton, filming has commenced, to screen next year.
Manhunt was also Seven’s #1 drama in 2019 and S2 will screen on Seven.
