Sarah Harris offered to take a pay cut to keep friend and colleague Joe Hildebrand on Studio 10, she has revealed.
In an interview with Stellar she confirmed the gesture -a rarity in television.
“I’m fiercely protective of Joe,” she says. “He’s my brother. That’s what families do.”
Very classy.
When Hildebrand announced his departure in September, there were tears all round.
“It’s just been a wonderful seven years,” he said. “I love you, Sarah. For the three people living under a rock who don’t know, Sarah is my best friend. My work wife. We’ve been through all this since the very beginning.”
Updated: A Network 10 spokesperson said, “As previously reported, Joe Hildebrand was offered an ongoing role with Studio 10 and after some cordial conversations, he decided to make a clean break and we respected his decision. Suggestions that Sarah Harris offered to take a pay cut in order for Joe to remain on Studio 10 were never formally considered.“

Okay I give up, who is this Irish idiot? I spent a bit of time in hospital this year and didn’t mind a bit of Studio 10 but the changes have ruined it for me. Sarah Harris is a star.
Wish 10 brought Joe back…don’t get what direction 10 Management wants to be going with their network, although removing him was anything but “edgy”.
I don’t like the new studio 10, it’s boring. Tristan is too opinionated and he sounds like he doesn’t mean what he says to guests, he sounds fake. Ad the repeated infomercials I always mute the show is more muted than listened too.
Love Sarah too – but I’m losing interest in Studio 10. Much much preferred the old format – Sarah always looks uncomfortable sitting on the couch – I think she prefers the desk. The old banter was much better. The egg and spoon race the other week almost sealed the coffin for me, sadly.
Nice to see. Always felt that they made a grave mistake of being bold with their format / host choice way back when it started, but it all came undone with those stupid infomercials. Given that 7/9 were rating better and followed a similar format, I reckon they should have gambled on a more sophisticated format.
yes it could be a talk show and Sarah could talk to guests etc.
I think they got rid of Joe because he could be controversial. Unfortunately viewers liked him but the network wanted vanilla.
Scrap Studio 10, trim it back and call it “Sarah and guests in the morning” or something.

A new direction……..that’s clearly failed. I find it boring now.
My thoughts exactly. In my opinion, Tristan is quite selfish, makes everything about himself and gives nothing in terms of support to Sarah. Why can’t the Ten bosses see this and – even sadder – why won’t anybody tell Tristan and try to make him better? Studio Ten RIP
Yep, I flicked on to check it out the first day wanting to enjoy it and thought the same thing. Seems very mouthy and interrupts a lot.
Pure class. Pity there is not more like her.
Very generous of Sarah, but not surprising really, as she comes across as a very genuine and loyal person.
Yes I love Sarah. I can’t see Studio10 lasting as it is now. It had the potential to be something different. It could have been retooled with new presenters (from the left right and middle) and stayed the same but grown.
