TV’s biggest prize winners (updated)

Nine reality series tops cash prizes and a #2 ranking for biggest ever in Australia.

The Block absolutely dominates a list of Australian TV’s biggest prizes, joining a rare million dollar club this week with a $1.066m prize for Jimmy & Tam.

But TV flop The Hot House still leads the pack with its $2m windfall in cash and prizes awarded in 2004.

The 10 show required them to build a Bribie Island home from scratch, which they got to win along with two cars, and boat. The prize even requires NSW winners Simon & Jules to live in the home for 2 years. Despite the mammoth prize it failed to connect with viewers -a similar problem awaited Seven’s The Big Adventure in 2014.

    1. I think they tried using the million dollar prize as the gimmick – “there’s a million dollar treasure on this island”

And I remember it being mediocre – the gameplay of the show was confusing
