Seven screens the WBBL Finals coverage from tonight, with the commentary team including Lisa Sthalekar, Julia Price, Mel Jones, Michael Slater, Trent Copeland and host Abbey Gelmi.

“Australians have been highly engaged with WBBL 06, with the season reaching 999,000 people every week and 2.6 million people nationally. It’s been an unforgettable season and the best is yet to come as the 2020 champion is crowned this week, live and free on Seven.”
The world’s #1 women’s T20 competition is poised for a thrilling finale this week as the top four teams do battle for the WBBL crown live and free on the Seven Network, with the Brisbane Heat gunning for a record third straight title.
The WBBL Final Series kicks off (tonight) when the top-of-table Melbourne Stars take on Perth Scorchers in Semi Final 1 on 7mate at 7.00pm AEDT. With skipper Meg Lanning in sizzling form, the Stars are confident they can claim the WBBL 06 title in their maiden finals appearance, while the Scorchers have the top-order firepower in Beth Mooney and Sophie Devine to spoil their plans.
On Thursday cricket fans will enjoy another cut-throat white-ball contest when the Heat square off against Sydney Thunder in Semi Final 2 on 7mate at 7.00pm AEDT. Brisbane will again lean on gun all-rounders Jess Jonassen and Amelia Kerr as it bids to keep its hopes of a WBBL three-peat alive, but it will have to overcome a star-studded Thunder team led by Rachael Haynes and former Heat all-rounder Sammy-Jo Johnson.
On Saturday night, the last two teams standing will meet on the Big Bash’s biggest stage – the WBBL Final – again live and free on 7mate at 7.00pm AEDT.

I’m not happy that due to the WBBL coverage there’s less animation programming this week on 7Mate.

actually – everything over season 23 is mostly crap.
If 7 cared about cricket as they claim, this would be on the main channel and they would have bought the rights to the ODI series that starts on Friday, but people without Foxtel or Kayo would probably not even know it was on…
oh yes…. seven are bleeding money by wasting it on stuff like AFL, but are expected to buy all the cricket rights to suit you?

Cricket being on free to air is crucial for the growth of the game, when these games were shown on channel 9, they’d usually get 900 thousand to 1 million viewers, these games will be lucky to get 400 thousand.
That means that there are hundreds of thousands of people that are no longer watching the cricket and will be watching something else.
England put games behind a paywall 15 years ago and it saw a massive drop in youth participation.
I’ve got no issue if Foxtel wants to simulcast the fta coverage and have no ads/better commentators, I just don’t think the games should be exclusive.
