Screen Producers Australia has named its 2020 Ones to Watch, twelve rising screen professionals whose project will be pitched at the Screen Forever event in February.
“After such an unprecedented year, it is fantastic to round out 2020 by celebrating the future of our local screen stories. Thank you to everyone who took the time to apply to this year’s program and to our project partners and valued mentors for their continued support. I look forward to watching the Ones to Watch refine and enhance their knowledge and skills – and their nominated projects – in the lead up to Screen Forever,” said SPA CEO Matthew Deaner.
The Ones to Watch will spend the next eight weeks undertaking a series of skills focused webinars to get their nominated projects “pitch perfect” for the annual conference, which is taking place at the Gold Coast and online from 16-18 February 2021. In addition, the producers will receive ongoing one-on-one virtual mentoring with a leading producer from within the SPA membership.
Each participant will also be given the opportunity to apply for the $15,000 First Look Grant (supported by SBS) and $10,000 Screen Internship (supported by Screen Australia).

One Response
Australia certainly needs to provide financial encouragement to future film makers, it just takes one successful film or show to begin a lifelong career especially if you work hard and know what audiences will warm to if it is innovative and fresh entertainment.
NZ’s Taika Watiti is an example of the type of film maker I am talking about.
