The Royal Variety Performance 2020 was held on November 29 at the Opera House Theatre, Blackpool, hosted by Jason Manford.
This marks the first time in the event’s history that no royal family or audience members were present due to the Covid-19 pandemic. The Prince of Wales instead appeared virtually via a pre-recorded message to the show’s cast.
Artists who appeared included Captain Sir Tom Moore with Michael Ball and the NHS Choir, Gary Barlow, Samantha Barks, Celeste, Melanie C, Sheridan Smith, Steps, Stephen Mulhern, Marisha Wallace, The Black Blues Brothers, Jon Courtenay, Jo Caulfield, Daliso Chaponda (it’s not clear if all make it into the TV presentation).

For those watching at Home clap your hands, for those watching at Buckingham Palace just rattle your jewellery.
It’s all on YouTube already, but interestingly Steps with no audio. There does seem to be single acts uploaded onto YouTube as well.
Steps were awesome.
They are always awesome!
… “no royal family … were present” … they probably didn’t want to go to Blackpool …
Nothing wrong with Blackpool. Have you ever been?
… oh yes … definitely a place for commoners 🤣🤣🤣
It more than that. Once again judging Blackpool on more that what it appears … Do you know the history?
… methinks you’re taking this waaaay too seriously … we detoured there around sixty years ago for a look and my childhood recollection is that it looked terrible … not really fussed about the history … lighten up a bit, it’s only television …
Blackpool isn’t in London… it’s 240 miles north!
Fair enough, I’ve amended.
It was wonderful to watch. Jason Manford made the right about of jokes about COV 19. Worth watching. Sheridan Smith performs as Cilla Black.
