Axed: Superstore

Cloud 9 team are shutting up shop with Season 6.

US sitcom Superstore is ending with its sixth season.

Variety reports the conclusion is no great surprise, given America Ferrera departed in Season 6, and ratings have been on the nose at 3.3m total US viewers after 7 days of delayed viewing.

“We’re grateful to Universal Television and NBC for letting us make 113 episodes of a show we’re so proud of, and for giving us the chance to work with such an incredibly talented group of actors, writers and crew,” said executive producers Justin Spitzer, Gabe Miller and Jonathan Green.

“We’re thankful most of all to the viewers who’ve stuck with us for the past six years (or discovered us somewhere along the way). We’ll do our best to go out strong and give you the satisfying ending you deserve.”

The series, which stars Ben Feldman, Lauren Ash, Colton Dunn, Nico Santos, Nichole Bloom, Kaliko Kauahi, and Mark McKinney, screens in Australia on FOX8.

Season 6, which premiered in the US in October, is yet to commence in Australia.

  1. Really disappointing news. One of the few US sitcoms I watch consistently these days. It had such a great mix of characters and is very relatable for anyone that’s ever done a stint in retail. I would’ve liked to see it go for another couple of seasons after America Ferrera left as I think there were enough strong characters for it to continue to find storylines.

  2. Criminally underrated show. Easily my favourite at the moment. A show that was real and relatable with a dash of commentary- and yet followed the zany antics of fantastic characters. I know 6 seasons is a lot these days, but even without America Ferrera, I’m sad it couldn’t last- it certainly hadn’t lost its steam and continued to get better as it went! Lauren Ash (Dina) is superbly talented, as is the rest of the cast, no doubt they will all be popping up elsewhere.
