“I need to apologise for my reaction”

Sarah Harris has apologised for comments made when news broke on actor Elliot Page.

Studio 10 host Sarah Harris has apologised for comments made yesterday when news broke on actor Elliot Page.

When discussing the Page’s transition, Harris referred to him with female pronouns and said it was “confusing” which drew some criticism on social media.

This morning Harris said, “I need to apologise for my reaction that I had yesterday when he first announced the news about Elliott Page, I completely stuffed up the pronouns. I got flustered, I tried to make a joke and move on. Looking back that was pretty insensitive. It was a genuine mistake and I’m so sorry.

“A lot of people say don’t apologise, but I felt really lousy and I would hate to have anyone feel like I was attacking them in that way. It was just a moment. I’m really sorry about that. Genuinely sorry.”

In 2016 Karl Stefanovic apologised for insensitive comments while last month Basil Zempilas apologised for comments he made on radio which offended the transgender community in Perth.
