Renewed: Golf Barons

A locally produced "Top Gear for Golf" gets a second season on FOX Sports.

Cheeky FOX Sports series GolfBarons recently announced a second season.

Producers Hook Media describe the inspiration for the show as “Top Gear for Golf” with season one presented by passionate players ‘Shooter, Philbert and Kippa.’

Season 2 will feature quirky new challenges, long-held myths contested, deep golf conversations discussing important topics, and game-changing instruction.

It will also comprise episodes filmed during COVID restrictions.

“The Covid-19 pandemic has certainly forced us to think more creatively about how we can get our messages across and it’s been really restrictive in getting out on course to film,” show creator Damian Shutie said.

“But these are the kind of obstacles our team thrives upon overcoming, and we’ve certainly found a way to do just that.”

“As they say, you need pressure to make diamonds. In our case, it’s probably more like amethyst, but the point stands.”

Season 2 will see everything from ‘sumos, bushrangers or even an internationally famous cigar-loving golfer making a cameo on the show.’

“The feedback we received about the first season of GolfBarons only validates our thinking that golfers want to see their sport represented in a livelier yet productive and entertaining manner,” Shutie said.

“And Foxtel’s commitment to airing the second season of GolfBarons for Australian golf fans across its pay TV service and streaming on Kayo is a massive boon for our burgeoning franchise.”

It is now also screening via Kayo, with a global distribution deal recently signed with Flame Distribution.

Season Two is set to screen in the first half of 2021.
