The absence of ABC and SBS figures skews the results badly in the graphs Nine provided but it remains notable that whilst they chase the key demos the actual number of people in those demos watching their programs is almost offensively low.
They may be ‘smashing’ the 16-39 demo but when the highest rated program of the week manages only just over 100,000 in that demo they can hardly crow to their advertisers. The commercial television model looks not only like it is failing but it is staggering that it remains even remotely viable with so few of the more valuable viewers engaged.
