The Block pays $11.5m for Hampton properties

Even the judges are in the dark on the next plans for Nine reality series.

The Block has paid $11,572,500 for five homes in Bronte Court, Hampton for its 2021 season.

The Age reports MicJoy Pty Ltd paid $3,025,000 for the recently renovated home belonging to buyers advocate Nicole Jacobs (pictured, top) plus $2m to her neighbours.

Two houses on the same side of the street as traded for $2,072,500 and $1,815,000, while one on the opposite side of the street fetched $2.66 million.

The $11.5m total is less than the Brighton property of $14.96 million, but more than the Oslo Hotel’s $10,815,000 and the Gatwick Hotel at $10 million.

Producers are staying tight-lipped on rumours this season will see house-swapping as a new twist in the series.

Even the judges are currently in the dark as to specific plans.

Shaynna Blaze told TV Tonight, “I know Nicole and I’ve been to her house, so I have been to that street, but I haven’t taken a good look.

“(Renovations) had just been finished so I’m not sure what’s happening with that.”

  1. Really hope house swaps aren’t a considered choice for a twist in the next series. Viewers of the block want to see the contestants succeed, the ‘villain’ of the narrative should be the construction and design, not enforced drama. Over the last few series, with mounting pressure on contestants with multiple rooms per week and, ‘biggest ever’, ‘hardest week’, ‘hell week’, ‘hell week 2.0’, it seems that producers are determined to position themselves, and not the build, as the villain.

Though it still rates highly, this is a strategy that, if continued, may turn audiences right off.

  2. I understand that the producer on the block has often said that Melbourne Councils are more conducive to filming the block in that they have less restrictions etc. But after so long being in Melb maybe they should look at somewhere else there’s so much of Australia they could explore like maybe a beach house on a coastal town or maybe rural properties on a few acres? They can all have luxury houses on them and sell for alot. Just my thoughts…

    1. That sounds like a nice idea. Securing a 100% clearance rate for five luxury houses in a regional area in a bulk auction would be more challenging than securing a 100% clearance rate in the inner city. Maybe they could consider a new selling strategy to refresh on the “auction day” concept.
