TV productions returning to Sydney

Australian Ninja Warrior and The Masked Singer look to be on the move.

More TV productions are headed north in 2021.

Australian Ninja Warrior will film in Sydney after 2 Melbourne seasons and The Masked Singer is also rumoured to be returning.

Ninja is back to the Harbour City where co-host Ben Fordham has successfully established himself in 2GB’s breakfast slot.

There are even whispers of a return to Cockatoo Island.

An Endemol Shine spokesperson said, “Indeed we are moving Ninja to Sydney, a location will be announced in the New Year.”

10 sources said all options are still being considered for The Masked Singer which was forced to leave FOX Studios due to a long-term site booking by Disney’s Marvel -but the pandemic has waylaid plans to resume.

The uptick in Sydney production follows Melbourne also losing The Chase to Sydney several months ago.

  1. I wonder if the return to Sydney has anything to do with not wanting to find a replacement for Ben.

Great to see Masked Singer back. I could see them doing it at Aware Super Theatre.

  2. Makes sense. Its not like Adelaide, Brisbane or Perth has much local (or any) production left. Same goes for regional.

Most industries in decline consolidate……or move offshore. Naturally, I would prefer to see a viable, growing industry in every state. But sadly those days appear over.

    1. I think thats the point. Film in Sydney, no quarantine, film in Victoria or Somewhere else, all NSW people would have to quarantine before production, being more costly.
