Aussie actor joins The Good Fight

Perth-born Charmaine Bingwa lands a plum role in US legal drama.

Aussie actor Charmaine Bingwa has been cast in Season 5 of US legal drama The Good Fight.

Bingwa (Black Box, Nekutronic, Little Sista, Starting From …Now) will play Carmen Moyo, a tough, unsentimental, young lawyer whose working-class background allows her to bond with Reddick, Boseman & Lockhart’s most infamous, difficult clients. She is expected to fill the void left by the departure of Cush Jumbo.

“We are thrilled that Charmaine is bringing her enormous talents to The Good Fight ensemble,” co-creators / executive producers Michelle and Robert King said. “The moment that we saw her audition, we knew that we had found our Carmen, and we can’t wait to start writing for her in Season 5.”

The Perth-born actor, a 2018 winner of the Heath Ledger Scholarship, recently wrapped shooting the lead in the indie US feature Trees Of Peace. Her brother Clive Bingwa is managing director of Nine Perth.

The Good Fight screens on SBS.
