Aussies win at Asian Television Awards

Luke Nguyen’s Railway Vietnam, Upright & NBL recently awarded in Asia.

Australian TV shows have picked up awards at the 25th Asian Television Awards, recently hosted virtually from Singapore, China, Malaysia and Thailand.

Luke Nguyen’s Railway Vietnam produced by Melbourne-based Creative Media Productions for SBS was named Best Lifestyle Program.

Creative Media Productions head John Hatcher said, “We had a wonderfully dedicated crew, working in challenging conditions against a tough production time-line where Luke and the crew were basically on and off the train for 35 days in 10 locations.

“We are incredibly grateful for the award and it’s wonderful recognition for the work Luke and the crew put into the project.”

Upright by Lingo Pictures which screened on Foxtel won Best Comedy Programme while NBL Grand Final 1: Sydney Kings v Perth Wildcats 2020 won Best Live Sports coverage.

This year’s awards attracted more than 1,300 entries in over 50 categories from a wide range of broadcasters, including free-to-air television networks and pay-TV platforms, as well as independent production houses in Asia.
