David Lipson will finish in his role as US Bureau Chief at the ABC this week.
He will report for the ABC in Sydney.
Lipson has been US Bureau Chief since late 2019, and worked as the ABC’s Indonesia Bureau Chief and Indonesia Correspondent before that.
Last week Sarah Ferguson headed to to Washington DC for a 6 months in-depth reporting role.
the Australian Govt's 50% cap on international arrivals provides too much uncertainty with so many flights being cancelled. It's the hardest decision we've ever made as a family. It's been such a privilege to work with the crack team in DC. I'll miss you all but.. 2/..

The one-man superpower known as @GregJennett will lead the team. ABC Washington is in very good hands.

So I guess with how things have been in China lately, especially after those journalists had to flee the country a while back that Sarah is not going there now.
I would be very worried for Sarah if she did go to China. Her investigative style would make her a prime target for the regime.
