Matthew Hayden joins Seven cricket team

Former Australian Cricketer joins commentary team for the decider in the Australia-India Test series.

Former Australian Cricketer Matthew Hayden has joined Seven’s commentary team for the decider in the Australia-India Test series.

He joins the commentary team of Ricky Ponting, Sunil Gavaskar plus Melbourne Stars bowler Holly Ferling at the GABBA today.

Hayden said: “I’m thrilled to be joining the Seven commentary team and a few former teammates for what promises to be a gripping series finale between the two best teams in the world.

“The pressure is on for Australia after India’s inspired performance on a tense final day of the Pink Test. Controversies aside, Australia remains the favourite in my book, but will need to bring their best, most aggressive cricket to the Gabba. I’m expecting big things from the new pairing of Marcus Harris and David Warner at the top of the order, and if Warner can find his form early, I think he’s a real chance of a Test century.”

The Home of Cricket will have every angle covered with an unmatched team for the fourth Test that also includes former Aussie stars Michael Slater, Damien Fleming and Greg Blewett, along with James Brayshaw, Tim Lane, Alison Mitchell and analysis from five-time ICC Umpire of the Year, Simon Taufel.

Seven’s coverage of the 2020-21 Australia-India Test series has so far reached 10 million people, with the teams locked at 1-1 ahead of the final Test, starting at the Gabba on Friday with live and free all-day coverage from 10am AEDT on Channel 7.

One of the most dominant and decorated opening batsmen in the game’s history, Hayden amassed more than 8000 runs including 30 centuries in his illustrious career and held the world record for the highest individual score in Test cricket (380).

10am AEDT today on Seven.
