Rebel Wilson to host Pooch Perfect US

Another international adaptation for former Seven series, with Rebel Wilson back as host.

Pooch Perfect is getting a US adaptation, to be hosted by Rebel Wilson.

It follows the dog grooming format premiere on Seven last year, followed by a UK adaptation currently hosted by Sheridan Smith.

Wilson announced the news on her social media channels overnight.

Joining her are US reality personality Lisa Vanderpump, celebrity dog groomer Jorge Bendersky and veterinarian Dr. Callie Harris as three judges.

The eight-episode series will showcase 10 of the best dog groomers in the USA in two challenges: the Immunity Puppertunity challenge and the Ultimutt Challenge showdown.

Pooch Perfect is now produced and owned by Beyond Media Rights Limited and due to air stateside in coming months.

  1. Funny that network execs in the US seems to have an insatiable appetite for adapting our local duds (Pooch Perfect, Sisters, Secrets and Lies, Sit Down Shut Up etc.). I can’t seem to recall any that have been successful.

And before anybody mentions Wilfred, that was a cult favourite in Australia, so that wouldn’t fall into the “dud” category by any stretch.

  2. Of course the footnote to this is that Seven Studios created the show, decided that development is too risky, sold Seven Studios international arm to Beyond which now owns the UK and US versions. Update: “Seven continue to financially share in the success of the Pooch Perfect IP” -Seven.

    1. It tanked becausr Seven insisted on a main channel prime time slot, apart from it not having the niche audience here.

The US has a huge demand for content of sny kind, and a name like Rebel will draw a market. Who knows where and when it will screen 10pm on The Animal Channel?
