Sex and the City revival proceeding
Sarah Jessica Parker, Kristin Davis and Cynthia Nixon back for a 10 part series -but no Kim Cattrall.

Sex and the City is officially being revived in the US with three of its four principal cast members.
10 part series titled And Just Like That will centre around Carrie (Sarah Jessica Parker), Charlotte (Kristin Davis) and Miranda (Cynthia Nixon) as they navigate love and friendship in their ’50s. Parker, David & Nixon and Davis will also executive produce, along with writer / director Michael Patrick King.
Kim Cattrall, who played Samantha Jones, is not returning. She has previously criticised Sarah Jessica Parker and the last movie revival. Creator Darren Star is also not involved.
The production is being made for HBO Max in the US (Foxtel / Binge is the likely home in Australia, but that’s yet to be confirmed).
“I grew up with these characters, and I can’t wait to see how their story has evolved in this new chapter, with the honesty, poignancy, humor and the beloved city that has always defined them,” Sarah Aubrey, head of original content at HBO Max, said in a statement.
Sex and the City ran for six seasons from 1998 – 2004, spawning two films (2008 / 2010) and spin-off The Carrie Diaries.
Production will begin in coming months in New York City.

The fact that Darren Starr is not involved is also a deterrent.
I’m not surprised Kim Cattrall is over it. The concept is so out dated why would she want to revisit this era? Her theatre roles are probably more challenging than this. Sex and the City was a product of its era and it has not aged well. It should be left to bath in its glory days for fans to rewatch. Let it go and move on.
This does seem like flogging a dead horse. The second movie was awful. Are women in their fifties in NYC looking for love?
Wasn’t there talk about potentially replacing Samantha with a black actress to give the show more diversity? Someone like Garcelle Beauvais would be great.
It will be like one of The Brady Bunch reunions without one of the Brady kids. Just awful. Dont even bother!
I hope they replace the character played by kim cattrall with another actress.
Surely they have milked this premise for all its worth? The second movie was scraping the bottom of the barrel so how will they find enough worthwhile content for another series. They have lost one of the best and most interesting characters and the remaining characters are now married, mostly with kids, so that’s not really befitting the whole Sex and the City concept. Carrie is a horrible character and she made a massive mistake in marrying Big because he just makes her even worse. This show is outdated and will need a massive overhaul to be relevant now.
Totally agree with you, but I am sure the first episode will at least be a ratings hit.
The original series was so absolutely loved, die hard fans I am sure will enjoy this. But watching three women in their fifties navigate love in NYC, does anyone besides women in their 50’s want to see that?
The biggest blunder here is that Kim Cattrall isn’t returning, Samantha was the best character. But besides the riff her character would be in her 60’s it won’t be the same Samantha character we all loved.
