UK removes film, TV exemption.

Producers must now factor in 10 day isolation for international cast & crew on UK productions.

Film and TV production has been taken off the UK government’s coronavirus travel exemption list, meaning those arriving in Britain to participate in shoots will need to self-isolate for 10 days.

The government updated its rules this week and changes impact almost much everything apart from those involved in essential work for the BBC.

“If you are not exempt, and you arrive in the UK, you will need to self-isolate for 10 days,” the government said in a statement. “When you arrive in England, you must travel directly to the place you are staying and not leave.” This does not apply to countries that are subject to a travel ban, such as Brazil and South Africa.

The new rules will mean that producers will have to build extra time into shoots if they working with people arriving from abroad.

There were 37,535 new cases of coronavirus on January 18, down from a peak of 68,053 in the first week of January.

There have now been a total of 89,860 Covid-related deaths in Britain.

  1. Each day recently the number of people diagnosed is decreasing and there are more people vaccinated that there is who have had it. There are now over 4 million people vaccinated.

  2. BBC reporting new daily death record of 1,610 deaths today (at time of writing).
    Earlier this week it was also reported that one person every 30 seconds needed to be hospitalized due to COVID in England.
