Former ABC broadcaster David Evans, who was a Prime TV newsreader, has died aged 78.
He passed away in Victoria on December 31, 2020.
ABC reports Evans (pictured left) worked at Moree’s local radio station 2VM in the early 1980s before becoming the newsreader at Prime TV Tamworth in 1984, a position he held until 1999.
He began with ABC Local Radio that same year, presenting Saturday Breakfast until his retirement in 2014.
His commitment to broadcasting saw him honoured with on OAM on Australia Day in 2007.
The award was not just for his work as a communicator, but also his dedication to the establishment of the Tamworth Light Horse Memorial that was unveiled in 2005 by Major General WB Digger James AC MBE MC.
