Viewers of I’m A Celebrity Get Me Out of Here took to social media last night following a terrifying challenge in which actress Toni Pearen was repeatedly bitten on the face by snakes.

The “Hellraiser” challenge involved her head entering a box with baby pythons (non-venomous), but even hosts Julia Morris and Dr. Chris Brown were visibly shocked when she was bitten 7 times.

7 times.

“You have to get me home to my kids,” she cried.

Despite her being attended to by a medic and continuing with the challenge, many viewers called it a step too far, on social media.

But there were others who were simply amazed by her bravery.

Ex AFL player Robert ‘Dipper’ DiPierdomenico and Real Housewives cast member Pettifleur Berenger have joined the show this week with MKR judge Colin Fassnidge expected tonight, along with a surprise and early exit.

  1. I don’t watch the show and have only seen this on social media. I am more concerned about the snakes tbh. Animals, reptiles and insects should not be used for our entertainment. Poisonous or not.

  2. The whole premise of the show is suspense, and the threat that any of the critters can bite at any time. Many have over the years; this is just a more “in your face” (pun intended) example.

Celebrities know this when they sign up for the money, and can opt out at any time (unless there’s some secret clause stopping them in Week 1)

So yeah, if kids are scared, why are they watching?

  3. I thought it was fairly confronting entertainment. She showed considerable courage. It should persuade other networks to put their contestants in more perilous situations

  4. In this covid era, I’d rather get bitten on the face 7 times by a non venomous snake than get vomited on by a potentially infected stranger. Nurses, doctors, taxi drivers, uber drivers and hospitality workers face much worse dangers daily and many do not get an apology or rewarded as well as someone on a tv show……nor does it make news headlines.

Nothing to see here. Others face much great risks in the line of duty.

  5. In my opinion, this trial wasn’t so bad? I mean, the snakes are non-venomous for a start and each celebrity (in their contract) has agreed to do these foul trials, which may seem hurtful to those watching at home.

Mind you, I am looking forward to what feathers Pettifleur ruffles while in the jungle! She was my favourite Real Housewives star by far!

  6. Here’s the thing, Toni was in control. After the first bite she could’ve said “I’m a celebrity get me out of here” but she didn’t, bite after bite she went with it and barely flinched.

It was tense tv and fairly shocking to watch, but she did it and she kept playing the game despite going through that.

The show’s producers can’t control what the animals do. We all know one thing for sure, the show isn’t fake or edited. They could’ve removed that snake and reshot the scenes but that would’ve taken away from Toni’s experience.

  7. Surely, I think getting contestants to pretend in getting married, and then putting them in a room with other randoms discussing their sex lives and throwing in copious amount of alcohol is surely more dangerous than a snake bite to the face…

  8. The haters must be new or casual viewers. Others have been bitten by snakes before. Yes not this many time at once and it was brutal but they weren’t dangerous snakes. I do agree she should have got a pity meal.
