Hasbro-owned Entertainment One is letting go of 10% of its global film and TV staff.
eOne’s head of film and TV, Steve Bertram indicated the layoffs come amid a move to “evolve the focus and structure of our organization around the world” and comes in response to the “significant disruption the traditional studio model was experiencing as the technology giants invested heavily in their platforms and the creation of original content,” which has been accelerated by the pandemic.
eOne has offices in Sydney and Melbourne, although in 2019 it halted direct theatrical distribution in Australia and New Zealand.
It remains a distributor for ABC titles The Newsreader and Wakefield and has been a producer of such titles as Matt Okine’s The Other Guy (Stan) and Alien TV (Nine).
International TV titles include Peppa Pig, The Rookie, Designated Survivor, Cardinal, Private Eyes, Hell on Wheels and more.
