FOX League 2021 launch

FOX League launches its season in Parramatta -with players painted onto the stadium turf.

FOX League launched its 2021 season today at Bankwest Stadium in Parramatta.

In attendance were FOX League 2021 Commentary team including Matty Johns, Yvonne Sampson, Mal Meninga, Cooper Cronk, Gorden Tallis, Michael Ennis and more.

Attending players included Mitchell Moses, Kalyn Ponga, Damien Cook, Tom Trbojevic, Jake Turpin and Luke Brooks.

The faces of Foxtel and Kayo ambassadors, James Tedesco, Mitchell Moses, Kalyn Ponga and Cameron Munster were painted into the turf.

FOX Sports Executive Director, Steve Crawley, said: “When your customers pay for something they can otherwise get for free, there’s a greatly increased emphasis on the standard of your people, your shows and game production.

“That’s why FOX League need people of the highest calibre, people like of Mal Meninga, Yvonne Sampson, Cooper Cronk and Mick Ennis; shows like NRL 360 and Matty Johns plus a team of the best callers and world-leading innovations. It’s equally important this is not a boast but fact.”

Live coverage of the 2021 season will begin on Thursday, March 11 with Thursday Night League.

FOX League’s team of experts for the 2021 season features some of the biggest names to have ever played the game, along with the best line-up of the most respected commentators, reporters, and presenters. Led out of the sheds by Matty Johns and Yvonne Sampson alongside rugby league legends, the 13th Immortal – Mal Meninga, and fellow premiership winners Cooper Cronk, Michael Ennis, Gorden Tallis, Greg Alexander and Braith Anasta a formidable cast of experts will dissect all the key moments on field.

The best hosts in the business will steer footy fans through each day of Live action in 2021 on FOX League with Yvonne Sampson on Thursday Night League and Super Saturday, Jess Yates on Friday Night Football, Hannah Hollis on Sunday Ticket and Lara Pitt working across game day and magazine programming throughout the season.

When the ball is in play experienced commentators Andrew Voss, Dan Ginnane, Warren Smith, Matt Russell and Brenton Speed will call every second of every game each week.

Complementing the on-field action is FOX League’s extensive line-up of entertainment shows with more fun and more debate, bringing fans even closer to the game they love.

New to the Fox League programming slate in 2021 is ‘Face to Face with Matty Johns’ on Wednesday nights at 7.30pm. The face of Fox League Matty Johns sits down with key figures in the game of rugby league and Australian society for a candid chat. With a growing list that already includes Anthony Mundine, Karmichael Hunt, Danny Buderus, to the troubled upbringing of Melbourne Storm rising star Nicho Hynes and the previous career of Melbourne Storm General Manager Frank Ponissi, get set for an interesting snapshot of the most interesting people in the game.

Returning to FOX League in 2021 will be favourites NRL 360, The Late Show with Matty Johns, Sunday Night with Matty Johns, Big League Wrap and The Fan.

The week of FOX League begins on Monday night with news from every angle when Ben Ikin and Paul Kent lead off three consecutive nights of NRL 360, with top rugby league journalists Phil “Buzz” Rothfield and James Hooper.

Now in Rabbitohs colours, Benji Marshall returns with James Graham on NRL 360 to provide the players perspective every Tuesday night in 2021.

Face-to-face with Matty Johns will lead Wednesday nights with Matty Johns sitting down with the biggest names in sport and society following NRL 360 with Lara Pitt joining the show for Legends Night featuring Geoff Toovey, Benny Elias and Mark “Spud” Carroll.

The formidable combination of Matty Johns, Gorden Tallis and the unforgettable Fletch and Hindy will be ready to roll again on The Late Show with Matty Johns. Straight off the back of Thursday Night Football they boys will dissect the action in the way only they can with the best, worst, and some left-field analysis to keep you entertained once again.

Premiering after every Super Saturday Andrew Voss and Lara Pitt are back with, The Fan, when they have some fun looking at rugby league through the historical and quirky lens of the game’s biggest fanatics.

FOX League’s flagship entertainment show, Sunday Night with Matty Johns, is back in 2021. Matty Johns will be joined by Bryan Fletcher, Nathan Hindmarsh and Emma Freedman to wrap up the round’s action with plenty of laughs along the way.

The week wraps up with Big League Wrap with Yvonne Sampson, Mick Ennis and James Hooper dissecting all the biggest news and talking points following the weekend’s round of football.

Also set to join the FOX League team in 2021 will be newcomer Jake Duke alongside Megan Barnard and Matt Russell on NRL Tonight.

FOX League, available to watch on Foxtel and stream on Kayo, is the home to rugby league in 2021 with every game of every round, plus all finals games leading into the Grand Final, Live, ad-break free during play and in HD.

  1. Hi David, is there any word on whether the Professor and Barney are part of the Fox League team or shows this year? I know it seems irrelevant since they aren’t footy players but their unbiased observations and irreverence tend to keep the channel honest. All the shows sound great but I wish they did another series like 13 to 1 again where they made use of their extensive archives and player contacts for interviews just to add a slight difference. Also does that mean Jake Duke is no longer with 9 or are they sharing him the way they did with Sterlo? Thanks David this is literally the only place I can talk about this channel ya know? =)
