Logies to proceed in 2021… but how?

Networks are currently submitting candidates for nominee consideration.

The Logie Awards will proceed in 2021, after being forced to cancel plans in 2020.

But details are yet to be confirmed.

The Sunday Herald Sun reports networks are currently submitting candidates for nominee consideration.

There were already changes announced to voting before the pandemic hit, including nominees to be determined by factoring in TV Ratings, Social Content, Industry Judges. Streaming platforms were also invited to submit five candidates for all Popular categories -including the Gold Logie.

There would be 6 nominees in each Popular category, and 7 for Gold. The public would still choose each winner, with voting running right up to Logie night.

It will also face the challenge of encompassing a two year eligibility period.

The event is rumoured for late June on the Gold Coast, but it isn’t clear if travel restrictions could see it shift elsewhere, or as virtual.

TV Week is now published by ARE Media.

  1. I welcome the Logies back with open arms. I’m hoping Total Control will be considered worthy of nomination, given the two year factor is in play. I feel it would have probably won it’s category if the Logies had gone ahead last year. Sorry to single out one show, but for me it really was that good.

  2. I’m glad that the Logies will be back in some sort.

But am still not a fan of the new voting process. We have two years of shows and cast to vote for, but the networks will still forward their submissions and will choose the nominees themselves, then we can vote once the nominations are out? There will still be omissions, since tv ratings will be a big factor this time around.
