Mark Duncan wins Holey Moley

Heavily-bearded Queensland garbo takes out $100,000 prize.

Heavily-bearded Queensland garbo Mark Duncan has won Seven’s Holey Moley contest, pocketing $100,000 prize money.

Also competing in the Final were Nik “The Punisher” Papoutsis, Jesse “Surfing Beer Salesman” Earnshaw, Jayden “The Pilot” Lawson, Tom “The Yeppoon Mudflap” Kunkel , Daniel “Prawn Farmer” Thusberg, Montana “Pro Golfer” Strauss, Teresa “Dragon Boat Racer” Thoi, Michelle “Coach” Cowan and Amy “Big Foot” Morris.

Mark breezed through his early rounds against Jesse Earnshaw on Clowning Around and Teresa Thoi on Polcano, proceeding to the final hole, The Tomb of Nefer-Tee-Tee, where he met pro-golfer, Montana Strauss and drone-pilot, Jayden Lawson.

Each player had to putt through a sphinx onto the rotating pyramids and then onto the green with a 100-ft shot at a hole-in-one.

“I cannot believe it!” he said of the win.

After 11 episodes Seven will wrap the series with a Celebrity Holey Moley and Holey Moley Junior next Sunday & Monday, respectively.

The series launched with a bumper audience but was unable to sustain as a stripped series. In the USA the Eureka production has won awards and ratings in a weekly edition.

The elaborate Queensland course is expected to be used by other international productions.

  1. Loved this show, what a hoot! Loved Riggle and Shirvo, they were fantastic together, very droll and funny, almost like a send-up of a commentary team. I really hope it comes back next year. Is probably better as a Saturday night show rather than a strip series. It was really similar to the old Its A Knockout series from the 80s, just set on a golf course. If they bring it back as a Saturday night series, I reckon it will do better. The first episode was actually the worst. It improved out of sight after that.

  2. I liked it, mainly because I’m a fan of Rob Riggle. The Tom Kunkel montage after he got eliminated was hilarious as was them taking the absolute piss out of the much hyped final hole.😆It most definitely should have only been a once a week show.

    1. Yeah Rob Riggle makes the show. I do think he works better paired with Joe Tessatore than Matt Shirvington but Shirvo was an OK straight man.
They’d already done the Nefer-tee-tee hole in the US finale so I knew the joke that was coming there.

    2. Rob is brilliant, loved him, he was so good as the colour commentator. Shirvo is a terrific sports caller, he really has the knack for it. They were really very good together with excellent chemistry. The build up to the final hole was freaking hilarious! I love all the elaborate schematics that were shown every week for it, then it turned out to be really ordinary! LMAO!!!
