Samara Weaving to play Holly Madison

Australian signs on to play former Playboy bunny, with a script written by Marieke Hardy.

Australian actress Samara Weaving will play former Playboy bunny Holly Madison.

Weaving (SMILF, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Three Billboards Outside Ebbing, Missouri, Home & Away) has signed on to Sony Pictures Television’s limited series based on Madison’s 2015 memoir Down the Rabbit Hole: Curious Adventures and Cautionary Tales of a Former Playboy Bunny.

Fellow Australian Marieke Hardy (Laid, Packed to the Rafters, Nowhere Boys) will write the script which “looks beyond the polished facade of the Playboy brand to depict the visceral, often deeply damaging stories of the women who entered following a dream and found themselves manipulated, controlled, and abused by the machine.”

Madison, famously one of Hugh Hefner’s girlfriends, appeared on E!’s reality series The Girls Next Door and had her own show, Holly’s World. Her second book, The Vegas Diaries: Romance, Rolling the Dice, and the Road to Reinvention — which detailed her life in Las Vegas — was published in 2016.

A US network is yet to be attached.
