FOX Footy 2021 …but where’s Eddie?

Presenter line-up for 2021 makes no mention of ex-Collingwood president, currently on leave.

FOX Footy has released details of its upcoming 2021 season with a new Wednesday night show hosted by Dermott Brereton, new commentator Eddie Betts, presenter Christian Petracca and a 20th season for On the Couch.

“FOX Footy is back with all our shows, including AFL 360, and we are incredibly pleased to have Eddie Betts and Christian Petracca join our line-up. We have a commentary and production team that’s the best in the business, and with no ad-breaks during play, fans know that FOX Footy is the go-to place for all the 2021 season football action,” FOX Sports Executive Director Steve Crawley said.

But missing from the line-up is former Collingwood president Eddie McGuire, who regularly hosts Friday nights and commentates on various games.

McGuire recently announced he would be taking a break from media commitments, although it was unclear how long this might entail. He is currently scheduled to return to Footy Classified next week.

JAM TV CEO Cos Cardone has told SEN, “Eddie is fine. Anyone who knows Ed will know that Ed is the most resilient human being in the world and in his own time he’ll be back. I’m not sure when he’ll be back on TV but I wouldn’t think it would be too long.”

FOX Footy has not responded to queries about his commitments with Foxtel this year.

After a record-breaking pre-season, Foxtel today unveiled FOX Footy’s full expert team, show and game day coverage, including every game of every round, plus all finals games leading into the Grand Final, Live in HD and ad-break free during play.

Carlton superstar Eddie Betts will make his move into game day commentary on the dedicated AFL channel and Melbourne gun Christian Petracca joins the AFL 360 team alongside Jack Riewoldt, Adam Treloar and Betts for Players Night.

“When I started playing AFL footy I hated talking to the media. Going to FOX Footy is like going back to school with the big dogs like Jonathan Brown and Nick Riewoldt,” said Betts.

Hosted by Garry Lyon, Sarah Jones, Kelli Underwood and Kath Loughnan FOX Footy’s weekend of live action begins before the first siren sounds every round and continues until the locker rooms are empty on a Sunday.

Every coach will again join Gerard Whateley and Mark Robinson and the AFL 360 team on Monday nights ahead of a huge week of big name guests.

On The Couch celebrates its twentieth year on air with original host Gerard Healy still at the helm. He is joined by the biggest names in the game, Lyon, Jonathan Brown and Nick Riewoldt.
Dermott Brereton will host new show Dermie Delivers – a weekly look back at two of the biggest stars and their best games.

The First Crack will beat everyone else to the finish line on Thursdays and Fridays after the game and on Sundays after Bounce. The revolving panel of FOX Footy experts will offer fans their first fix on all games and stories.

Anthony Hudson, David King and Brereton will begin the biggest day of footy with Saturday Countdown. Saturday Stretch after Saturday Footy on FOX will round out the night for footy fans. Loughnan, Brad Johnson, Jordan Lewis and Tom Morris will provide the best wrap of the day.

Bounce host Jason Dunstall will wrangle the loose Andrew Gaze, Cameron Mooney, Sharni Norder and Bernie Vince as they make the whole family laugh on Sunday nights.

FOX Footy and Kayo will for the first time ever also offer game day Minis for all nine games. The shortened version of the match allows fans to catch up on all the action and highlights in less than 20 minutes.

FOX Footy’s unrivalled commentary team includes the biggest names in the business: Adam Papalia, Adam Treloar, Alastair Lynch, Andrew Gaze, Anthony Hudson, Ben Dixon, Bernie Vince, Brad Johnson, Brenton Speed, Cameron Mooney, Christian Petracca, David King, Dermott Brereton, Dwayne Russell, Eddie Betts, Garry Lyon, Gerard Healy, Gerard Whateley, Jack Riewoldt, Jason Dunstall, Jon Ralph, Jonathan Brown, Jordan Lewis, Katherine Loughnan, Kelli Underwood, Leigh Montagna, Mark Ricciuto, Mark Robinson, Mike Sheahan, Nick Dal Santo, Nick Riewoldt, Sarah Jones, Sharni Norder, Tom Morris.
