Nine security guard hospitalised

Alleged attack took place outside Nine's Melbourne HQ, ahead of an ACA broadcast.

A Channel Nine security guard was taken to hospital by ambulance last night following an alleged attack outside the Bourke Street, Melbourne headquarters.

It follows members of an extremist group wanting to speak to A Current Affair staff over a story ahead of its broadcast.

Police confirm the victim was approached and assaulted around 5pm. The offender and an unknown man both fled the scene.

Victoria Police have been given CCTV vision of the incident.

Update:

“Detectives from Counter Terrorism Command last night arrested two men as part of their investigation to an alleged assault in Docklands on 1 March,” police said.

“A 27-year-old Rowville man has subsequently been charged with affray, recklessly cause injury and unlawful assault.

“He has been bailed to appear at Melbourne Magistrates Court on 27 July.

“A 21-year-old Rowville man was released pending further enquiries.”
