Peter Hitchener unwell, out mid-bulletin.

Clint Stanaway steps into anchor chair telling Nine viewers Hitch was feeling unwell.

Nine News Melbourne presenter Peter Hitchener has withdrawn from the anchor chair tonight mid-bulletin, with Clint Stanaway telling viewers he was feeling unwell.

A Nine spokesperson told TV Tonight Hitch was battling a migraine while presenting tonight but is resting and expected to return tomorrow night.

It comes at a time when Nine is forging ahead through major technical problems to bring together its bulletin, after a cyber attack on the network.

  1. I was watching and Hitch on two occasions stopped reading. Silence for a few seconds before cutting to the story. I thought it was another Nine Technical issue….with the autocue stopping. When Clint appeared after the break, clearly Hitch was not well. Good to hear it was ‘only’ a migraine. Get well soon Hitch!

  2. Migraines can sometimes be a sign of lack of rest or sleep. If it was me, I’d say two days rest at least. But I don’t actually know why it happened. A dedicated presenter whose longevity is admired.

  3. Was hard to watch as there was obviously something wrong and felt so worried for him when Clint Stanaway replaced him. I’m very relieved to find out it was just a migraine. Even so, rest up Pete and take care. Melbourne luvs ya!
