Returning: Line of Duty

BritBox has the Australian streaming rights for the anticipated new Line of Duty season.

Season 6 of Jed Mercurio’s Line of Duty premieres in the UK next week and will screen in Australia through BritBox.

The first two episodes will be available on Thursday 1st April, with 5 other episodes dropping weekly.

Line of Duty follows a team of detectives in Anti-Corruption Unit 12 (AC-12) as they work on a series of anti-corruption cases within the police force. Joining the cast is Kelly MacDonald and Aussie Shalom Brune-Franklin (director Daniel Nettheim is also an Aussie).

LoD has previously screened in Australia on Universal, Netflix and ABC but there has not been a new season for more than two years…

Featuring a talented returning cast including series leads Vicky McClure (Broadchurch, Alex Rider, This is England), Martin Compston (The Nest, Traces) and Adrian Dunbar (Blood, The Hollow Crown), Season 6 of Line of Duty will also see new addition Kelly MacDonald (Trainspotting, Boardwalk Empire, Giri/Haji) guest star. Macdonald will take on the role of Detective Chief Inspector Joanna Davidson – a senior investigating ocer on an unsolved murder, whose unconventional conduct raises suspicions at AC-12.

Line of Duty is written and created by Jed Mercurio, and made for BBC One by World Productions. Season 6 will be directed by Daniel Nettheim (Broadchurch, Doctor Who), Gareth Bryn (Hinterland, Last Tango in Halifax), and Jennie Darnell (Bodyguard, Hetty Feather). Line of Duty is produced by Ken Horn (The Moorside, Line of Duty Series 5). Executive producers are Jed Mercurio, Simon Heath for World Productions and Tommy Bulfin for BBC One.

  1. Its great to see such an A grade show appearing on such a niche service. However the show is premiering Mar 22, a day and date would be a fraction more compelling. Any more Britbox exclusives?

  2. What a pity it has gone to Britbox and not a major streaming service like Netflix or Foxtel!
    How many subscribers does Britbox even have?
    Most people can only afford 1 or 2 streaming services and already have Netflix. Sorry but I won’t be forking out more money just to watch this even if it’s a fantastic show!

    1. Makes so much sense for them to make sure they got the rights to this one. So many people will be doing the free trial I’m sure just for this. Nothing more British than dipping your toe in.
