Netflix comedy Special recently confirmed it will conclude with its second season.
The series stars Ryan O’Connell as a gay man with cerebral palsy.
Season 2 will now officially end the series, but, on the bright side, the new batch of eight episodes are expanded from 15 minutes in length to 30 minutes.
“It would surprise no one that it wasn’t my decision,” O’Connell said in an interview. “Netflix told me pretty early on that it was going to be the final season and I appreciated that because I was able to craft a season that felt very much like a final season. The story will feel complete.”
O’Connell has also been part of a mentoring team for SBS’s Short-Form Content Initiative increase opportunities for under-represented screenwriters.
The new season is due on May 20.

Really enjoyed season one. I’m glad the axe wasn’t swung without warning and season two can be done the way O’Connell wants to.
