UK viewers vote Neighbours as Best Soap

Aussie series is still a fave with diehard soap fans in the UK.

British TV viewers have voted Neighbours as the Best Soap in the fan-voted Radio Times Awards.

Fremantle CEO Chris Oliver-Taylor told TV Tonight, “Neighbours is such an iconic show that has been the mainstay of Australian television for the past 36 years.

“Even in COVID, thanks to the brilliance of Jason Herbison (EP), Nat Lynch, Kate Kendall, Chris Donis and Andrew Thompson, they kept the show running, supported by all the cast and crew. All of us at Fremantle are delighted that this tireless work, at one stage making Neighbours the only drama in the world to still be running, has been recognised in the most competitive Soap market in the world, the UK.”

Best Sci-Fi/Fantasy: Doctor Who
Best Entertainment: Strictly Come Dancing
Best Factual: David Attenborough: a Life on Our Planet
Best Soap: Neighbours
Best Film: Soul

  1. Shame people forget that it is on Peach, and they tune into the otherHome & Away thing on Seven. I refer to Neighbours as having more substance than Home & Away,
