Wait….Holey Moley not formally renewed

Seven is still in discussion with producers over the future of Holey Moley.

Reports of Seven returning to Holey Moley in 2022 may have jumped the gun. Or it may come to pass.

Either way, the show is not officially renewed by Seven as yet.

“We wanted Holey Moley to come in and do a job which was give us growth year-on-year on the timeslot against My Kitchen Rules, it did. Was it to the levels we had expected and hoped? No. Did it do the job we wanted it to as a minimum? Yes it did,” Seven chief revenue officer Kurt Burnette told the Australian Financial Review.

“The sponsors and partners that were on board…we made sure they met their objectives on the way through. In that respect, it was ok.”

Whilst the indication was a weekly screening of the show in 2022, sources now advise Seven and Eureka are in discussion on its future.

  1. Seven will be using this tactic to reduce the royalties associated with the program. Better bargaining power if they threaten not to renew!

  2. I absolutely loved this series and think it’s a no-brainer to bring back! If Seven doesn’t bring it back one of the others will snap it up!

  3. The caricature contestants
The repetitive nature of the show
    The American ‘Dad Joke’ co-host

There was potential in the format, unfortunately that was unstuck by the heavy lean in on the worst aspects. It almost felt like a parody show.

  4. I do hope it gets renewed! I’d really like to a half once a week for 90 minutes. The American version does this well, I hope the Australian version follows suit!
