Airdate: RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under

First look at local RuPaul series, coming to Stan in May.

Stan Original Series RuPaul’s Drag Race Down Under will be sashaying to screens in early May.

The 8-part series marks the first time there has been a local version of the hit franchise in Australia / NZ.

RuPaul hosts, with Michelle Visage and Rhys Nicholson on the judging panel. Celebrity guest appearances will be announced soon.

The 10 fierce Aussie and Kiwi queens competing to be Australia’s first ever Drag Race Superstar were revealed live at the 2021 Sydney Gay and Lesbian Mardi Gras.

The queens who will be racing down the runway soon are: Anita Wigl’it (Auckland, NZ), Art Simone (Geelong, VIC), Coco Jumbo (Sydney, NSW), Elektra Shock (Auckland, NZ), Etcetera Etcetera (Sydney, NSW), JoJo Zaho (Newcastle, NSW), Karen from Finance (Melbourne, VIC), Kita Mean (Auckland, NZ), Maxi Shield (Sydney, NSW) and Scarlet Adams (Perth, WA).

Saturday 1st May on Stan.

  1. I felt the same way until I simply tried it early last year to see what the fuss is about. What I’ve really appreciated the most is seeing a side of LGBTIQ culture that I personally have never been exposed to or been a part of it, and there are plenty of personal stories from the queens about their lives which are worth hearing. I’ve binged all seasons in the last year and find it entertaining and educational with a lot of heart.

    1. I thought this as well until I watched season two of the UK version this year. Apparently it’s been one of the best seasons globally.

      1. Having seen pretty much every episode of every season of all RPDR seasons, I would have to agree. It was one of the most balanced productions — and also one of the most challenging since they had to take quite a large chunk of 2020 off due to harsh lockdown rules in the UK.
