A second new local food show will premiere this week on SBS Food plus NITV.

5 part series Strait to the Plate sees actor Aaron Fa’aoso meeting locals across the Torres Strait Islands who have perfected their signature dishes.

The series is produced by LoneStar Productions (Blue Water Empire, Elements: Gubau Gizul of Saibai).

What better way to get to know people than through their food? Strait to the Plate with Aaron Fa’aoso will unearth a feast of signature culinary delights, navigating through six Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander communities and providing a contemporary snapshot of the people, food, language, and life in the Torres Strait Islands. Aaron visits Badu, Poruma, and Moa islands, as well as Indigenous and Torres Strait communities in the Northern Peninsula Area at the tip of Cape York. In each location, Aaron meets locals who have perfected their signature dishes.

Episode One: Badu
Starting his journey in the Western Islands of the Torres Strait, Aaron Fa’aoso meets an old friend. As well as warriors, sailors, and fishermen, the island of Badu is also home to some amazing cooks.
