What happens after you’ve been hurt at work?

This week on Insight, Kumi Taguchi hears about workplace injuries & recovery.

What happens after you’ve been hurt at work? Current systems in place aim to get workers back on the job – but what does that actually involve? And what are the effects on the injured worker, both physically and mentally?

8:30pm Tuesday on SBS.

  1. I was injured in a work accident in May 81, I have been unemployed ever since. I was told at age 25 that ” I would never work again get used to it “. Just the thing a 25 year old wants to hear. Of course I did not want to believe it and tried so hard for it, not to happen. Reality check no one cares and you are left to fend for yourself. Had to leave Sydney because I could not afford to live there. Where I moved to cared even less and as it, cost more to employ me over somebody else, because of insurance you had no hope. I spent over thirty years on the Dole and with what that does for and to you, let’s just say I have no debt but then again also couldn’t borrow $500. I am now on DPS but not because of my injuries. So I have a very good idea of what people have to expect, after a work accident.
    Kind Regards,
